Don't delay on the prep, the sooner you do it the better!
If the past has shown me anything it's that guests that choose to remove their lock extensions a month prior to having new one's installed have stronger natural locks to attach too. Spending that month extension-free means your natural locks get more time to shift on their own without all the extra weight dragging them down. Think of it as a nice vacation for your lock health -- where I absolutely love long luscious locks, I'm also a huge advocate for the long-term health of your hair -- trust me, you'll appreciate that break a little further down the road!
- Remove any and all trinkets from your locks.
- Remove all current extensions: this can be done easily by cutting the extension off just above the extension's connection point, or by picking at the connection point with your fingers to loosen up the joint (this method requires patience).
- Brush out your ends: in order to achieve a strong connection point with your extensions you will want at least 3-5 inches of loose brush-able, wispy tips if possible. I highly advise purchasing a “carbon comb” from any of your local hair supply stores as they have a better lifespan through tough jobs such as this.
- Keep in mind that if you come in with blunt tips or extensions attached, your first day will be considered a removal day.
Removal Services are an additional $60 per hour spent removing
or combing out the lock in any capacity.
